Pete's "Wine & Cheese" at The Triangle

We are holding on June 20th a Wine & Cheese fundraising roof-top event at an exclusive location in Willemstad, a city which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Located at Hoogstraat in Otrobanda, The Triangle building's terrace has spectacular rooftop views of the old city.

My good friend Paul Jonkers will be in charge of the wines and bar, which will serve premium hard liquor, whilst PISS'D OFF PETE team member Priscilla Lotman will be in charge of the rest. So, I can be quite confident when I say that the good times will roll that Thursday.

So, won't you come and have a good time with us, while at the same time lend us a helping hand in our quest to bring the battle to Frank Brandao's King Kong IV. You could also buy dad a ticket for "Fathersday".

Night time pictures

The sport of drag race, as with most forms of modern motorsports, has many facets that requires constant attention. In this piece, I am referring to semi-professional sport photographers.

Stills are important, but so are burnout and launch photographs of a car. Some areas which requires more attention from local sports photographers are the mid-track and the finish line.

So last weekend, during a special test session, I took an aspiring photographer with me to the track, at Urven Broos (DAC).
night. As we stood at the finish line, it became very clear why this area isn't serviced. The conditions are extremely challenging. Still, Priscilla managed to get some decent photographs taken, albeit with the help of

Maybe in the future we can help set up a special tower from which photographers can do their thing, maybe around the generator area, and then some 2-3 meters of the ground.

In a nutshell, sport photographers have a supporting function, for they supply us with the photographs needed to market our sport, not only to our fans and sponsors, but also to spectators and the public in general. Whenever you are in a position to support them, please do for they are very under appreciated!

Thanks to all who helped in 2012

Even though we are well into the new year, I'd like to express our gratitude to all those who sponsored, donated, lend a helping hand and came to support us in 2012. It was a good year in which we made a lot of progress and gained much experience. Definately, 2013 will bring even better racing.

Of course, I'd be nowhere if it were not for my crew. A shout out goes to Stephen Maduro, seen here sanding the floater for the next pass, to Eric Felix and Priscilla Lotman. Pris has shown a lot of determination in learning the ropes and is not shy of getting her hands dirty, eventhough she keeps a pack of hand wipes handy!

Last test before Extreme Xmas Shoot Out

It had been a long while since we tested and, unfortunately, it showed.

Last Saturday afternoon, after a long wait for the track to open, we made our first run on a pretty decent track. Kudos to the track officials.

The launch of the first pass was ok, I think it was a slow 1.03 - 60ft, but when I hit third gear a pretty hard tire shake moved me towards the centerline. I hoped to back pedal it and slightly nudge it back into the groove but Pete kept moving to the left. Even though I lifted quite early, the momentum still carried me enough to hit a cone. Note to self: lift even sooner!

The second pass, didn't fare any better.

I'd like to formally welcome a new team member, Ms Priscilla Lotman. She has shown a great deal of enthusiasm and I am sure she will slide right in with Eric and Stephen.
On the picture she can be seen helping me place the rear Pro Jacks underneath the Cobalt.

See you this Friday at the races.

February get together

Back in the summer of 2011, the Danny de Kort Motorsports foundation organized their first fundraising event to assist in getting the car to Curacao, which we did in December, after Jeff Dobbins completed its assembly and took it to the track for testing.

In February of this year, we organized a get together to allow the participants of earlier mentioned fundraising to see the car up close and get an explanation from the car owner and driver, Danny de Kort.

Even though the picture won't do the gathering any justice, I thought it worthwhile to show it anyway.

Thanks for reading.
